This design approach centered on flexibility and scale. A simple metal building structure was selected to create a large, open interior capable of accommodating a soaring taproom space alongside tall beer fermenters, allowing the brewing process to remain visible and integral to the guest experience while supporting efficient back-of-house operations.

Construction presented unique challenges during a period of steel shortages. To keep the project moving, the building’s structural components were locally fabricated from scratch, reinforcing the hands-on, craft-driven nature of the brewery itself.

The completed space supports both production and hospitality, establishing Iron Forge as a functional brewery and a destination rooted in its process.

The project received a 2023 Excellence in Construction Award from Associated Builders and Contractors Greater Tennessee, recognizing the collaborative effort behind the brewery’s design and construction.
