Rural Metro

Miscellaneous

Rural Metro Fire Station 16 is designed to support both daily fire operations and extended firefighter shifts. The station includes three large truck bays, multiple live-in and shift bedrooms, and a shared living and kitchen area intended to feel like a home away from home.

The owner asked for a clear design language that could carry across future development. Stone and wood were selected as the primary materials and used throughout the building to help define different areas while remaining durable and welcoming for the firefighters.

Large awnings highlight the truck bays and mark the main entrance to the station. The sleeping quarters were designed with a more residential feel and include access to a large deck off the day room that overlooks a wooded area.

Today, the completed station stands as a place firefighters can feel proud to work in, while still fitting naturally within the surrounding community.
