The Mercy Medical Center (West Office Building) is part of a larger healthcare campus serving West Knoxville, designed to support expanding outpatient services while also accommodating an ambulatory surgery center.
The design approach focused on integrating the building seamlessly into the existing medical campus. Materials, proportions, and architectural details were selected to align with adjacent facilities, allowing the building to feel visually cohesive and physically connected to the broader center.
A two-story entry lobby and atrium serves as a clear orientation point for visitors. The rounded corner of the atrium extends upward to a “crown of thorns” tower, creating a recognizable architectural feature that reinforces the building’s presence within Mercy Medical Center.
